Aatmanirbhar Bharat Shines! PM Modi Launches Rs 360 Crore 'See-in-the-Dark' Factory in Andhra Pradesh

What a move for Indian defence! PM Modi has just inaugurated a new Rs 360 crore BEL factory in Andhra Pradesh. This high-tech hub will build advanced night vision, missile seekers, and anti-drone tech, supercharging India's 'Aatmanirbhar' dream.

India’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ mission just got a massive power-up! In a landmark move on October 16, 2025, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated a new, cutting-edge Advanced Night Vision factory to the nation in Nimmaluru, Andhra Pradesh.

This wasn't just a simple ribbon-cutting; it was part of a huge development push for the state, with projects worth a total of Rs 13,430 crore launched in the Kurnool region.

Why This Factory is a Game-Changer

Speaking to the crowd, PM Modi was clear about the factory's mission: to make India a world leader in defence technology. He stated this unit will boost India's power to produce critical gear like:

  • Advanced Night Vision Equipment

  • Missile Sensors

  • High-tech Drone Guard Systems

He also set a bold target, adding that this will "elevate the country’s defence exports to newer heights." To prove his point, the Prime Minister reminded everyone of the success of Indian-made weapons during the crucial Operation Sindoor, which the "entire world had witnessed."

Kurnool: India's Next 'Drone Hub'?

The good news for Andhra Pradesh doesn't stop there. PM Modi expressed his full support for the state government's ambitious plan to transform Kurnool into India’s new drone hub.

He explained that this isn't just about drones; it's about creating a whole new ecosystem of futuristic technologies across the state. Linking it back to recent successes (again citing Operation Sindoor), he confidently affirmed that Kurnool "will become a national strength in the drone sector" very soon.

Inside the Rs 360 Crore BEL Facility:The Key Details

So, what's inside this new high-tech plant? Built by the defence giant Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) with a Rs 360 crore investment, this factory is a beast.

  • Main Goal: To make top-grade electro-optical devices (like advanced night vision) for our Armed Forces and also for export.

  • Key Products: It will manufacture Infrared Seekers for our indigenously developed missiles and advanced systems to protect against rogue drones and other aerial threats.

  • Massive Scale: The facility is spread over 50.54 acres in Nimmaluru (Krishna District) with a 36,000 sqm built-up area.

  • Future-Proof: It’s built with flexible production lines, ready to adapt for new products and manufacturing techniques.

  • Jobs, Jobs, Jobs: The factory is also a big win for the local economy and will create significant employment over the next 2-3 years.

This new BEL factory is more than just a building; it's a powerful statement. It shows India is no longer just buying defence technology-it's building it. This is a massive leap forward in making our nation strong, secure, and truly 'Aatmanirbhar'.
