Guwahati,Assam – In a move that has surprised political observers, Jagdeep Dhankhar has stepped down as the Vice President of India, yesterday, effective immediately. The announcement came via a letter addressed to the President, which was also shared on VPIndia's X (formerly Twitter) account.

"To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the constitution," Dhankhar stated in his letter.

His resignation brings an end to a notable tenure that began on August 11, 2022, when he was sworn in as the 14th Vice President of India.
