Parliamentary Preparations: Leaders Converge Ahead of Monsoon Session 2025

India's political leaders met in Delhi today to finalise plans for the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, setting the stage for crucial debates and the introduction of 17 key legislative items.
The corridors of power in New Delhi buzzed with activity yesterday, 20th July 2025, as a significant meeting took place in the Parliament House Complex. Chaired by Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, the gathering brought together 54 leaders from 40 political parties.The purpose? To lay the groundwork for the highly anticipated Monsoon Session of Parliament, 2025.
Convened by Shri Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, the meeting saw the active participation of other key ministers, including Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law & Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, and Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting.
Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda opened the discussions by extending a warm welcome to all attendees. Subsequently, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs took the floor, officially announcing that the Monsoon Session, 2025, is scheduled to commence on Monday, 21st July 2025, and is tentatively set to conclude on Thursday, 21st August 2025. To facilitate Independence Day Celebrations, both Houses will observe a brief adjournment from Tuesday, 12th August 2025, reconvening on Monday, 18th August 2025. This schedule will provide a total of 21 sittings, spread over 32 days.
Shri Rijiju further informed the assembled leaders that a substantial legislative agenda awaits, with tentatively 17 items of legislative and other business identified for consideration during this session. The government, he assured, is prepared and ready to engage in discussions on any other important issues raised on the floor of the Houses, strictly adhering to parliamentary rules.
Leaders from various political parties seized the opportunity to express their views on a range of issues they intend to raise during the forthcoming session. Crucially, they collectively pledged their full cooperation to the government for the smooth functioning of parliamentary proceedings.
In his concluding remarks, Shri Nadda extended his gratitude to all the leaders for their attendance, their valuable insights, and their active participation. He affirmed that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs had duly noted all issues raised and that appropriate action would be taken by competent authorities in accordance with established rules and procedures.

- Resolution seeking approval of extension of President’s Rule imposed through Proclamation issued by the President on the 13th of February, 2025 under Article 356(1) of the Constitution of India in relation to the State of Manipur.
