India takes a giant leap towards an AI-powered future! MeitY hosts pre‑summit events at IMC 2025, unveiling the roadmap for the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, focusing on trustworthy, inclusive AI for sustainable growth.
New Delhi, 10 October 2025 – India is on the fast track to becoming a global AI leader. As part of the preparations for the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) hosted a groundbreaking set of pre‑summit events during the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025. These events, held today in New Delhi, gathered key players from the government, academia, industry, and global institutions, creating a dynamic dialogue on how artificial intelligence (AI) can power inclusive growth and create sustainable impact across India’s digital ecosystem.
In his opening address, Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, outlined India’s strategy for AI: "We are building scalable AI solutions with the least resources, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all," he said. "Our innovative approach has attracted the attention of international agencies, positioning India as a leader in AI for the Global South."
Key Themes Discussed:
1. AI in Telecom for Socio-Economic Impact
How AI is set to transform telecom infrastructure, service delivery and connectivity - unlocking benefits for citizens and businesses alike.
2. Building Trustworthy AI in Telecom
The pre‑summit also spotlighted IndiaAI Mission, a landmark initiative launched by MeitY. Shri Abhishek Singh, CEO of IndiaAI, emphasized how the mission is tackling key challenges by providing affordable computing power (38,000 GPUs at just ₹65 per hour), creating a national data platform, and launching foundational AI models. Additionally, he revealed exciting plans for India to launch its very own Indian Large Language Model by the end of 2025, reducing dependency on foreign AI technologies.
Set for 19–20 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the India–AI Impact Summit 2026 will bring together global leaders, innovators, and policymakers to chart the future of AI. The theme of the summit, “From Action to Impact”, will focus on:

At the Pre‑Summit, leaders from major industry players such as Reliance Jio, TCS, Google, Airtel, Microsoft, AWS, AMD, BharatGPT-Corover.ai, and others came together to discuss how India’s AI ecosystem is growing and how global partnerships can accelerate inclusive AI solutions.
Smt. Kavita Bhatia, COO of IndiaAI, elaborated on how AI is being embedded in telecom systems to improve connectivity, especially in rural areas. She emphasized that ensuring AI reliability and trustworthiness in telecom infrastructure will be crucial for scaling AI solutions across India.
In a significant achievement, the MeitY Pavilion at IMC 2025 won the Best Exhibitor – Government award, highlighting the impressive showcase of India’s AI journey and the upcoming India–AI Impact Summit 2026.
