PM Modi Launches "Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar" Campaign & Poshan Maah, Benefits 15 Lakh+ Women

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches a major new health campaign, 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan', and the 8th National Nutrition Month. The initiative focuses on women's health and nutrition, with over 15 lakh women receiving cash benefits on day one.
In a significant push towards women's health and empowerment, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan' (Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign) and the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month) on September 17, 2025, from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.
The launch event was marked by a massive nationwide transfer of benefits, with over 15 lakh women receiving cash assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
What is the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan'?
This new campaign is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Women & Child Development and the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. It is designed to run from September 17 to October 2, 2025, and focuses on women-centric preventive healthcare.
The core idea is that a healthy woman is the foundation of a strong and empowered family, which in turn builds a stronger nation. The campaign emphasizes convergence, meaning various government health and nutrition services will work together seamlessly to benefit women.
Why is this Campaign Important?
The initiative underscores the government's commitment to making women's wellness a national priority. As highlighted by the Prime Minister, "not a single woman should suffer due to lack of awareness or resources."
This campaign aims to:
- Improve access to health services for women.
- Raise awareness about preventive care.
- Strengthen the link between health and nutrition.
- Support mothers during pregnancy and motherhood through direct cash benefits (PMMVY).
How is it Connected to Rashtriya Poshan Maah?
Running parallelly from September 17 to October 16, 2025, the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month) complements the Abhiyaan perfectly. Its focus is on promoting:
- Better nutrition for women and children.
- Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).
- The use of local, traditional diets.
- Digital tools like the Facial Recognition System (FRS) to streamline service delivery.
Together, these initiatives create a holistic ecosystem for women's well-being, integrating health check-ups, nutritional support, and financial aid.
Nationwide Participation and Ministerial Outreach
The launch was a pan-India event. Union Minister for Women & Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, joined the launch via webcast from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, along with the state's Chief Minister, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai. A mega health camp was organized in Raipur as part of the kick-off.
Minister Annpurna Devi also visited an Anganwadi Centre in Nimora village, Raipur. She interacted with women beneficiaries and Anganwadi workers, reviewed educational activities for children, and assessed the progress of the tech-driven Facial Recognition System for efficient service delivery.
Reiterating the government's vision, Smt. Devi said, "Under the leadership of PM Modi, we are ensuring that every woman & child receives the nutrition and care they deserve. These initiatives are crucial steps towards a Viksit Bharat 2047."
The 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan' is more than just a campaign; it's a national movement positioning women's health at the very heart of India's development journey.
