SSC CGL 2025: Exam on Schedule! Don't Believe Cancellation Rumours, Says Commission

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially shut down social media rumours about large-scale cancellations of the ongoing Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025. The Commission confirmed that the exam is proceeding as scheduled nationwide, with only about 1% of shifts being rescheduled, for which all affected candidates have already been informed and given new dates.

New Delhi: Amid growing anxiety among aspirants due to social media rumours, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) issued a major clarification on Monday evening, September 15, 2025. The Commission has strongly stated that the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025 is continuing smoothly across the country and reports of widespread cancellations are false.

This official statement comes as a huge relief for the more than 28 lakh candidates registered for one of India's biggest recruitment drives.

The Real Numbers: Only a Fraction Affected

Putting speculation to rest, SSC provided concrete data to show the actual situation on the ground. The CGLE 2025, which started on September 12 and will run until September 26, is a massive exercise conducted in three shifts daily across 227 venues in 129 cities.

Here’s the official breakdown from the SSC:

  • Total Planned Shifts: 2,435

  • Shifts Cancelled to Date: Only 25 (This is just over 1% of the total shifts)

  • Candidates Affected: 7,7054

  • Action Taken: All 7,705 affected candidates have already been assigned new exam dates.

So far, 3,01,722 candidates have successfully and smoothly appeared for their examination since it began.

Exam is Going on Smoothly

SSC officials further stressed that the examination process is robust and proceeding without any major disruptions. To prove their point, they confirmed that on Monday, September 15, not a single centre or shift was cancelled anywhere in the country.

In the exam scheduled on September 15, no centres have been cancelled and the examination is going on smoothly at all centres across the country,” an official statement read.

What Should Aspirants Do?

The Commission's message to students is clear: Stay calm and focus on your preparation.

  • Trust Only Official Sources: Get your information from the official SSC website (ssc.gov.in) and the websites of your respective regional offices.

  • Ignore Social Media Rumours: Do not pay attention to unverified news or panic-inducing posts on platforms like WhatsApp, X, and Telegram.

  • Check Your Registered Contact Details: If your exam shift was among the very few that were rescheduled, you would have already received official communication via SMS or email. Keep an eye on your inbox.

SSC has assured all candidates that the process remains on track and every eligible candidate will get their fair chance to appear for the examination.
