Indian Navy Band Shines at Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Celebrations

The Indian Navy Band, aboard INS Kadmatt, mesmerised audiences at Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Day with powerful performances and paid heartfelt tributes to World War II heroes at the Bomana War Cemetery.

A Special Tribute of Music, Honour, and Friendship Across the Pacific

In a moving celebration of Papua New Guinea’s 50th Independence Day, the Indian Navy Band, embarked on INS Kadmatt, took part in the Grand Military Tattoo held at Port Moresby. The event brought together military bands from across the globe, symbolising unity, shared heritage, and discipline through the universal language of music.

The Indian Navy Band performed a soul-stirring mix of martial tunes and traditional Indian melodies, earning heartfelt applause from dignitaries, military delegations, and the local audience. Their performance beautifully represented India’s rich cultural spirit, while highlighting the country’s deep-rooted maritime ties with the Pacific nations.

Honouring the Fallen: A Gesture That Touched Many Hearts

Beyond music and celebration, the visit carried a solemn message of respect. The crew of INS Kadmatt visited the Bomana War Cemetery, the largest war cemetery in the Pacific, to pay homage to the brave souls who laid down their lives during World War II - including many unsung Indian soldiers.

This respectful gesture served as a reminder of the shared history and sacrifices that connect our nations across oceans and generations. It reflected the timeless values of Duty, Honour, and Courage - ideals that continue to inspire armed forces and citizens alike.

A Lasting Message of Peace and Brotherhood

As India and Papua New Guinea continue to strengthen ties, the presence of the Indian Navy Band at such a historic celebration sends out a powerful message of peace, cooperation, and shared values in the Indo-Pacific region.
