Building Bridges: India and Israel Cement Defence Cooperation

Guwahati,Assam – In a significant move to bolster their strategic partnership, India and Israel have pledged to further strengthen their bilateral defence cooperation, with a clear focus on a long-term vision. This commitment emerged from a crucial bilateral meeting held on July 23, 2025, in New Delhi, between India's Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh and Major General (Res) Amir Baram, the Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defence.

The high-level talks saw both nations agree to work towards developing a comprehensive institutional framework designed to deepen their defence ties. This signals a move beyond ad-hoc collaborations, aiming for a more structured and enduring partnership in the realm of security and defence.

United Against Terrorism: A Shared Stance

A prominent highlight of the meeting was the unequivocal condemnation of terrorism by both sides. Major General (Res) Amir Baram expressed Israel's strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, extending full support for India's ongoing fight against terrorism. In return, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh reiterated India's steadfast zero-tolerance approach to terrorism, vehemently condemning the horrific October 07, 2023, terrorist attacks in Israel and calling for the immediate release of all hostages. This shared resolve against global terrorism underscores a vital aspect of their growing strategic alignment.

Progress and Future Endeavours

The discussions also served as an opportunity to review the progress of ongoing defence collaboration activities. Both delegations assessed the advancements made since their last Joint Working Group meeting, which was held in India in July 2024. This consistent review mechanism highlights the active and continuous nature of their defence engagement.
